Feeding the Hungry – New Identity Uganda

ree

One of the most dehumanizing experiences a person can face is hunger; it reduces individuals to a state of desperation. According to a Daily Monitor article from October 2024, 3 out of 10 Ugandans experience hunger daily. Furthermore, a 2023 roadmap from the World Food Program indicates that 16.4 million Ugandans suffer from insufficient food consumption. This alarming situation should deeply concern us all. At New Identity Uganda, one of our primary missions is to feed the hungry—our sisters, brothers, friends, colleagues, and even our parents.

The Bible teaches us that we should be lenders, not borrowers. When we lend to the poor, we are essentially lending to God. Why not partner with Him to end hunger in Uganda, especially among children, women, and the elderly in our communities?

"He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and He will pay back what he has given." — Proverbs 19:17 (NKJV)

Who wouldn’t want to lend to the owner of the universe, the One who owns cattle on a thousand hills, knowing that He repays with interest? Even if God were not to repay me, I would still choose to help because it is simply the right thing to do.

At New Identity Uganda, we feed an average of 15 families per month, in western, central and eastern Uganda and we provide over 100 pupils with a cup of porridge and lunch daily in the village of Nalango, Namwenda Kamuli District, and Budondo Jinja District Uganda. Our work goes beyond simply lending to God; it is about saving a nation, preserving humanity, and nurturing the next generation—the leaders, mothers, and fathers of tomorrow. This initiative not only combats hunger but also keeps children in school, improving attendance by nearly 80%. It also lessens the burden on parents and decreases malnutrition among the children we serve.

Jesus fed 5,000 and 4,000 people on two separate occasions; therefore, imitating Christ by feeding others is both commendable and essential. It is human and godly to provide nourishment to those in need. Jesus used modest resources, demonstrating that you don’t need to give much; you can give what you have.

One of our mandates is to make disciples of all nations. However, I believe that making hungry disciples is not aligned with God's will. Let us feed, teach, and encourage others to nourish the next generation. This mission reflects the Kingdom of God, pleases the Lord, and embodies goodness.

We invite you to volunteer, donate, or partner with New Identity Uganda to change lives and nations for Christ. Together, we can make a difference!
